Happy 30th Birthday Darryl!
Darryl turns 30 today (Saturday, May 23rd 2009).
I can't believe how fast time flies by. Darryl and I met when we were 20 and now a decade later we have changed so much, been through some ups and downs and yet our love continues to grow. Let me brag a bit about my hubby. First and foremost, he is the most handsome man I know! But in addition, to his great looks, he has a great heart, great sense of humor (although sometimes I don't get his humor!, and is my best friend! I am so proud of his success, both at work and at home (as a husband and now a father).
So, Happy 30th Birthday Shotzes! Have a great day and I hope we have many more days and years to celebrate!

The first weeks
So, I thought I would update everyone on Brylee. So far she is a really good baby. She continues to sleep 4-6 hours through the night, so that has been wonderful. Darryl went back to work on Monday, which was really hard, especially since he had a very long day. Once we get into more of a routine it probably won't be so bad, but Brylee and Mommy miss having Daddy at home!
Brylee has also had lots of visitors stop by last week and this week. She got to meet Rachael, Erin S., Heidi (tomorrow), Laura and Andy (this coming Friday), and Ron and Vickie in addition to all the people that came and visited her in the hospital and right afterwards. We are so thankful for all our friends and family.
If you haven't checked out Brylee's proofs from the photo session last week here is the web address. We are going to have a tough time choosing which photos we like best. Of course our favs are the tutu photos! Soooo cute!
Brylee has also had lots of visitors stop by last week and this week. 1st Mother's day
Happy Mother's day to all the moms! It is my first "real" mother's day, (only had doggie mother's day the last few years). Darryl thinks it is nice how I planned my baby very close to a holiday! :).
Yesterday, we went to the zoo to celebrate, however miss Brylee slept through everything, but at least we were able to document with pictures. This morning I was greeted with a card from Brylee and a letter written by Daddy from Brylee. It was very sweet, and almost made me cry. I will also be receiving a mother/child pendant with an emerald (Brylee's birthstone) and a mommy memory journal, where I can jot done quick notes about Brylee. So, needless to say, it has been a great Mother's day so far. Daddy has done well (which we knew he would), now we need to conjure up something good for father's day, since he set the bar so high! Later this morning we are headed off to brunch with my family to celebrate mother's day with my mom. Darryl's mom is in Nevada, so unfortunately we don't get to see her, but we wish her a happy mother's day as well.

1 week old
Brylee is one week old today. We can't believe it has already been a week. She has been such a blessing to us and we are enjoying every minute of it. She continues to be a pretty easy baby. We haven't got up more than once a night to feed her as she eats every 3-4 hours, so that has been really great. We hope it continues! She also has made many first trips this week: her first pediatrician visit, her first food outing to Noodles and Co., first trip to the Mall of America, first walks, first bath, first nap in her crib, first official photography session, and first visit to Daddy's work. Thanks to everyone for the meals, support, visits, etc. We have such great friends and family! I am looking forward to my first official Mother's day this weekend. Cheers to all the great moms! :)

Introducing Brylee Calla Bushard....
Brylee Calla Bushard was born on May 1st, 2009.
She weighed in at 8 lbs even and was 21 inches long. She was born at 3:01 AM on the 1st of May.
Brylee's birth story...
Brylee's birthday was scheduled to be on May 4th, although her due date was May 2nd. However, she had plans of her own! At about 4:30 in the afternoon on April 30th, I started having contractions. They started up and were 5 minutes apart. So, I called Darryl at work thinking that we would have plenty of time and knowing that he would have to drive through rush hour to get home. It took him about an hour to get home and in that time I must have called him 2-3 times asking him his location as my contractions were getting stronger! We made it to the hospital where Darryl dropped me off at the ER entrance and they wheeled me up to the maternity floor. I was already 5-6 cm. dilated. Once we got to the maternity floor they called for the anesthesiologist to come. However, he did not come for at least a half hour (which was the most difficult part!). The epidural finally came and I was in heaven! At about 11:00 p.m. I was 8 cm dilated and so shortly thereafter I started to push. We thought we were going to have an April baby, but she had other plans. She wasn't born until 3:01 A.M. on May 1st...she took a bit longer as she ended up being face up (or sunny side up), making the delivery more difficult. In the end it was all worth it. We are so thrilled and over the moon with our new baby girl. We can't believe she is actually ours and is finally here! We love you Brylee!
