Normandale Gala and my little elephant on parade..{weird title!}

Last night, Darryl and I attended my school's {Normandale Elementary-French Immersion} 20th anniversary Gala. It was at the Sofitel, as I mentioned previously. There were over 600 people {tickets were sold out}...so quite crowded. Regardless, it was an evening to get spruced up, spend time with colleagues, and past and present Normandale Families. I am quite sure that the auction was quite successful from the tables and tables of auction items such as: sports jerseys, sports tickets, to cupcake parties, dining out, and week long trips. All donated by parents and great sponsors. The great news is that the money raised goes to our school and most importantly the kids. Edina is a city that values education, and most importantly teachers. I am constantly amazed at this community and although I don't live there, I am so grateful that I work in Edina, one of the best districts not only in the state, but in the nation. We are doing things right...and for all the fingers being pointed lately in education and all the constant criticism, it is important to know that there are districts getting it right for children...where politics aside, the goal is still all about success of children. Last night was a celebration of education and success and I was grateful to be a part of it.

Thursday thoughts

Thursday Thoughts...
1.  I had an awesome girl's weekend last weekend with Erin and Laura in the WI Dells. We got pedicures, had massages, swam in the infinity pool and went in the hot tub while it was snowing out...so cool!, went bowling, shopping, and of lots of eating. It was great to catch up and have 2 nights of uninterrupted sleep! The weather wasn't the greatest, but I guess that is what is to be expected in February!
2.  We have a TON of snow...we got around 15-16 inches last weekend {when I was gone}. A little fact...Minneapolis has officially called 8 snow emergencies this season...the most ever!
3.  Brylee puked for the first time ever this week. I received a call from our nanny Mary on Wednesday afternoon that poor Brylee had just thrown up 3 times. So, I picked up my puke smelling baby and headed home. She was fine the rest of the evening and has not thrown up since...how nice that she saved the throwing up for Mary!
4.  Darryl and I are attending a Gala tomorrow night! It is for my work. My school, Normandale French Immersion, is celebrating its 20th year. There will be over 500 people celebrating at the Hotel Sofitel in Bloomington tomorrow evening. There will be an auction, hor 'deurves, a live band, and lots of fun! There will be past and present staff members, families, and French Interns. I got a new dress this past weekend and Darryl even stopped at Bloomingdale's on the way home last night to get some new duds.
5. Nothing else too exciting....
6.  What is a post without pictures?? No worries, I won't let you guys down...here are some pics of Bry Pie.
